Met Office issues urgent 14-hour flood warning with travel chaos expected

Swathes of the UK are facing yellow weather warnings, as Brits brace for the possibility of flooding as torrential rain is forecast to fall for hours.

Central Scotland, north-east England, north-west England and most of Wales are all set to be battered by severe downpours from Tuesday into Wednesday.

Meteorologists warned: “Heavy rain may lead to some flooding and disruption to travel”.

The Met Office experts added: “Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely” and that “some interruption to power supplies and other services likely.

“Bus and train services [will] probably [be] affected with journey times taking longer”.
