Crazy Brit hangs out with Taliban top brass after being detained by fighters

A Scottish YouTuber exploring Afghanistan has had tea with the Taliban top brass, after the defacto leaders of the country detained him.

Callum Mills, who goes by the name Callum Abroad on his YouTube channel, travels to far-flung destinations and vlogs his trips for his subscribers.

The 29-year-old, from Coatbridge, has ventured to the likes of Jordan, Egypt and recently jetted off to the Syrian capital of Damascus on another adventure in early April.

He's now detained in Afghanistan, according to his X profile. The Scot wrote yesterday (September 6) on the site, saying: "From Coatbridge to Kabul Taliban wondering who the F I am and why I’m here…"

He added: "Everything is fine so far." When asked by a follower if he was still detained, Mills responded that the commander who arrested him was "sound".

He said: "The commander was sound. Gave me a Taliban flag. Anyone who’s been to Afghan recently will know that each check point is different. Just your luck."

He was soon on the road again, the Silk Road specifically. He said: "I stopped the motor on the Silk Road to ask for tea from what I believed were 'Nomads'… turns out it was the Mujahideen!

"They asked me to convert, I politely declined and then the man with the plastic foot swore me in. Oh and they also made me tea."

He also addressed people calling him an "idiot" for going to the dangerous Middle Eastern country.

He said: "To the people calling me an idiot for travelling to #Afghanistan

"When I’m on my deathbed, I’ll not be wishing I bought a bigger house or fancy car or saved more money..

"I’ll be thinking of all the crazy places I’ve been and the people I met..
