Tragedy at gender reveal party as plane nosedives and crashes

A horrific video shows the moment a social media stunt went horribly wrong as a plane crashed in front of oblivious guests of a gender reveal party.

In San Pedro, Mexico, a family was hosting a ceremony to announce the parents-to-be were having a baby girl when disaster struck.

The expecting couple were holding hands in front of a sign that read “Oh Baby,” and pink smoke was released by the plane as it began to descend.

The pilot appears to pull the Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee aircraft upwards and the left wing suddenly gives way, sending the aircraft into a fatal tailspin.

Those at the gender reveal appeared oblivious to the unfurling tragedy, as the plane began to crash.

Before realizing the tragedy that had occurred, the couple continued to embrace while family members congratulated them.

The 32-year-old pilot, named locally as Luis Angel N., was later found lying in the wreckage of the plane before he was rushed to hospital, where he died, according to local media.

Video of the incident went viral online, with one person saying: “The way the camera panned back to the couple with not the slightest care in the world for the pilot is sad.”

Another added: “Why do they have to do such extreme gender reveals lately? Why can’t they just settle for something simple?”

Infamously, a gender reveal party in 2020 started a wildfire in California, seeing the expecting couple charged with 30 crimes.

Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr and Angela Renee Jimenez used a pyrotechnic device, which ignited the destructive El Dorado wildfire

The blaze torched close to 23,000 acres (9,300 hectares), destroyed five homes and 15 other buildings, and claimed the life of a firefighter, Charlie Morton.

The couple were indicted for 30 crimes including involuntary manslaughter, said Jason Anderson, the San Bernardino county district attorney, during a press conference.
