Startup company Tern is launching a cruise-booking tool for travel advisors.
The tool, Cruise Discovery and Planning Tool, has a planning interface that enables advisors to present multiple options quickly and a client-collaboration feature, according to Tern.
Tern said the platform also has customer relationship management capabilities and a library that stores activity and trip templates.
The cruise tool will be highlighted in a webinar on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
On the webinar, Tern cofounder and COO Katie Williams said she plans to use the tool to mock-present three cruises from one river line and two ocean lines.
“We’ll challenge ourselves to do all of that in under five minutes,” Williams said. “We’re excited to push the boundaries and save advisors time.”
Tern founders Katie Williams, David Shull and Brian Heath met in 2014 when they all worked at Handshake, a job-finding site for college students. Over the years, they all had travel mishaps on trips they planned, which got them thinking about travel advisors.
They learned the space was growing, Williams said, and they wanted to create a technology platform to enable advisors to do their jobs better. They regularly consult with travel advisors about Tern.
The trio started working on the platform in 2022. They have been regulars at industry events in recent years, including ASTA’s Global Convention. They were one of 20 featured startups at Virtuoso’s Travel Tech Summit at Virtuoso Travel Week in August.
