The pretty little fairytale city loved by British tourists where pints cost 71p

A fairytale city in the centre of Europe that’s much loved by Brits has been revealed as one of the cheapest spots for a pint.

Prague in the Czech Republic is a popular spot for weekend breaks and stag dos with direct flights from across the UK.

It has been revealed that the city is one of Europe’s cheapest spots for a beer, at an average of 71p per pint.

Budget Traveller used Pintprice.com to work out the cheapest spots in Europe, a website where people can post the price of beer where they are. The travel website created an average to give people a rough estimate of costs.

According to the travel website, one of the cheapest spots for beer in Prague is at Hany Bany in the old town, where you can get a small Staropramen for 76p.

Prague has lots of other pulls for tourists with historical sights such as the ninth-century castle, Passage Lucerna, Old Town Square, and St Cyril and St Methodius Cathedral.

There are a number of green spaces to enjoy including Vrtba Garden, Riegrovy Sady, Letná Park, Vyšehrad, Frantiskanska Zahrada, and Střelecký Island.

And for those who want to take in the arts there is the National Theatre, Rudolfinum Gallery, Jatka78, and the Jára Cimrman Theatre.

The city is also well-known for its nightlife with pubs, bars and clubs of all kinds. There is a club in a former abattoir, a biker bar, and a club in a large glass cube.

Prague sits on the Vltava River and is the old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is full of history and architecture having been important in the Holy Roman Empire, the Hapsburg monarchy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

According to Budget Traveller, among the top 11 cheapest countries to buy a pint are Belarus at 75p, Slovakia at 79p, Serbia at 85p, Poland at £1.25 and Belgium at £1.27.
