South Platte River trail homicide victims identified

The victims of two separate fatal shootings within a week along Denver’s South Platte River Trail have been identified.

Lluvia Robles-Banuelos, 31, was found dead Sept. 6 on the trail under Interstate 70 near North Washington Street, and Jeremy Hutcheson, 43, was found dead Saturday near the intersection of South Platte River Drive and West Florida Avenue, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner reported Tuesday.

Both bodies were discovered just after midnight with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police have said they believed both victims were experiencing homelessness.

Jay Hutcheson, Jeremy Hutcheson’s father, disputed that in an interview with 9News: “I need to make it perfectly clear that he was not homeless,” he told the station.

Yet following the release of the the victims’ IDs, a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department reiterated that investigators believed Hutcheson “was unhoused at the time of his death.”

Neither victim was found near an encampment.

Early findings in the investigation showed the deaths may be connected, police said, but they declined to release any more information.
