Mia Khalifa breaks silence after Hamas controversy and Playboy axing

Mia Khalifa has spoken out after she sparked controversy over her stance on the conflict in Gaza and Israel.

The former adult star was dropped from her podcasting deal with Playboy following her comments surrounding the war between Hamas terrorists and Israel. One post urged: "Freedom fighters in Palestine […] flip their phones and film horizontal," the Daily Star previously reported. Over 5,000 people are thought to have been killed in Palestine and about 1,400 have lost their lives in Israel.

She later clarified she did not endorse violence with her comments but rather was advocating for "Palestinian freedom" – but the backlash still saw her fall silent on social media. However she has now spoken out again, posting a clip from the fighting to Instagram showing a young boy covered in dust.

The video was reportedly filmed in Gaza City on October 23, 2023. The child can be seen shivering as someone asks: "What’s his name?". Another person responds: "Salama," followed by another question: "Salama who?"

Her latest post comes after Mia was forced to defend herself after her posts on social media regarding the war prompted backlash. She said at the time: "I just want to make it clear that this statement in no way shape or form is enticing [the] spread of violence, I specifically said freedom fighters because that’s what the Palestinian citizens are… fighting for freedom every day."

Despite this, adult company Playboy severed ties with Mia on October 10 after some of her comments were described by the organisation as "disgusting and reprehensible."

Playboy, which in March launched a content creation platform, initially hired Mia as one of its creators. However, she was dropped from the venture after she posted content on social media it deemed unacceptable.

In an email seen by the Daily Mail, Playboy said: “We are writing today to let you know of our decision to terminate Playboy’s relationship with Mia Khalifa, including deleting Mia’s Playboy channel on our creator platform. Mia has made disgusting and reprehensible comments celebrating Hamas’ attacks on Israel and the murder of innocent men, women, and children.

“At Playboy, we encourage free expression and constructive political debate, but we have a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech. We expect Mia to understand her words and actions have consequences.”
