Israel: Mother of Hamas captive speaks after release of footage
In a move to counter what Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy describes as a “Holocaust denial-like phenomenon,” Israel has released a snippet of unedited footage allegedly captured from the bodycam of a Hamas gunman during the ruthless attacks on unsuspecting civilians that took place on October 7.
The short clip, which was shown to journalists in Israel, allegedly revealed the horrifying moment when an Hamas gunman, armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, orders a pair of Israelis driving along a road to stop their car.
Without giving the driver a chance to comply, the gunman immediately opens fire at point-blank range, causing the passengers to recoil in fear as bullets pierce through the vehicle.
This released footage is just a small portion of the 45-minute-long compilation of unedited material, which Israeli officials claim they have shown to a select group of journalists at a military base in Tel Aviv.
The decision to withhold the full compilation is out of respect for the families of those killed, the IDF has said. It will only be released after they have viewed it and given permission, making it unlikely to be seen by the general public in the near future.

Journalists who attended the screening described the utter horror they witnessed. The compilation included footage recorded by Hamas gunmen on bodycams and smartphones, as well as smartphone and dashcam footage of the victims. Viewers were confronted with clear recordings of civilians being shot, stabbed, tortured, and burned, they claimed. The victims’ bodies were shown, bound, gagged, and riddled with bullet holes and knife wounds.
One particularly distressing clip allegedly depicted a Hamas terrorist throwing a grenade at a father and his son. The explosion claimed the father’s life, leaving the young boy covered in his blood. The child was then forced to sit next to his brother, who had been subjected to horrific torture. In the middle of this brutality, one of the boys sobbed, questioning why he was still alive as the ruthless terrorists stood over their father’s lifeless body.
Another chilling segment of the footage allegedly revealed the beheading of unsuspecting IDF soldiers, their headless corpses left exposed in the streets. Additionally, a group of female soldiers were incapacitated by a grenade before being shot at close range.

Some victims attempted to hide in skips or portaloos, desperately hoping to escape the clutches of their attackers. However, they were ultimately discovered and either gunned down or subjected to savage beatings before being taken hostage.
Government spokesperson Eylon Levy explained the IDF’s decision to show journalists the unedited and gruesome footage.
He said: “The IDF has been collecting footage from bodycams taken by Hamas death squads as they rampaged through the communities in southern Israel, butchering everyone in sight.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this… As we work to defeat the terror organisation we are witnessing a Holocaust denial-like phenomenon evolving in real time as people are casting doubt on the magnitude of the atrocities Hamas committed against our people and in fact recorded in order to glorify this violence.”
Journalists were not allowed to record the screening, which took place on a closed military base.
