A social media star has revealed an unexpected method for keeping your wing mirror clear in a video posted online.
In a TikTok posted by Mister Ryhan, that has since been viewed nearly 40 million times, the creator demonstrates how toothpaste can be used to keep wing mirrors clear of rain drops.
The video starts with Mister Ryhan thoroughly cleaning his wing mirror with spray and a cloth removing any dirt or dust.
Then the magic happens – a small amount of toothpaste is applied to the clean mirror and spread across the wing mirror using his finger.
The toothpaste is then rubbed into the mirror using a cloth, covering the whole of the wing mirror’s surface.

Toothpaste with mirror car life hack

Once the mirror is clean, Mister Ryhan sprays it with water and watches as the droplets slide right off instead of clinging to the surface like you would expect them to.
This is because the particles found in fluoride – a key component in toothpaste – create friction on the surface of the mirror, meaning the water can’t condense there and slides off.
Clear wing mirrors increase visibility which is paramount in wet and windy driving conditions, making the roads safer for motorists across the country.
