A tiny town in Italy is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, with its sea often likened to that of the Caribbean. Stintino is a small seaside town in the Sassari region part of Sardinia, an island considered one of the most stunning holiday destinations in the Mediterranean.

The town, located in the north-western part of the island, counts around 1,550 residents and can boast an important museum focused on the history of tuna fishing, an activity tightly linked to this territory.

Stintino, however, is an attraction for tourists around the world mostly thanks to its white and extra-fine sand beaches and turquoise waters.

One of the most famous beaches in the area is called La Pelosa, which has at times been addressed as the most beautiful beach in Sardinia.

While this is a difficult claim to prove considering how stunning the whole coastline of the island is, La Pelosa certainly lives up to expectations with its shallow, pleasant waters and white sands.

The beach is quite small, as it measures around 300 metres long and 60 metres wide, and has a peculiar view on a watchtower located a few kilometres away. This building, known as La Pelosa Tower, was built for defensive purposes in 1578.

Among the many tourists who recently paid a visit to La Pelosa, some shared their experience online, including internet user MassiG, who wrote on the travel website Tripadvisor: “Amazing beach, incredible water, finest sand. Can get busy and you need to book… but it is unforgettable. The colour of the sea is unreal!”
