A Top Tory has hit back at a rambling Remoaner over his latest Brexit claim.

Dr Mike Galsworthy, Chair of the European Movement UK, told GB News that the migration crisis engulfing the UK will lead British voters to turn their back on Brexit.

It comes as Earlier this week, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said estimated net migration stood at a provisional 672,000 in the year to June 2023, up from 607,000 in the previous 12 months.

The total for the year to December 2022 was also revised up to 745,000, meaning it broke all previous records.

However, a leading pro-Brexit Government minister also told GB News that “these rejoiners are absolutely kidding themselves” when they plot a return to the EU.

Dr Galsworthy, from the European Movement UK, said the latest ONS figures were a damning indictment of Brexit.

He said: “It’s just proven, in one fell swoop that these Brexiteers can run their mouths, but not a country.

“They promised simple solutions to complex problems- and ended up slagging off immigrants whilst at the same time begging non-EU immigrants in record numbers to fill key places in our NHS and social care that EU workers were deserting.

“Of course we are better off inside the EU with stable, mutual rights on work and travel, together tackling the challenges of immigration from outside the EU.”

The European Movement campaigns for “rebuilding closer ties” with the European Union.

The Remainer claims were ridiculed by those at the head of the Government, as one minister said: “It’s just typical! They’ve always thought its about immigration and it never really was.

“It has always been about being in control of our own destiny. They need to adjust the parameters of who we allow to come here, if they want to bring the numbers down. But we have the ability to do that now.”
