{"id":121550,"date":"2023-11-21T17:39:37","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T17:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cottontailsonline.com\/?p=121550"},"modified":"2023-11-21T17:39:37","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T17:39:37","slug":"ukraine-soldier-admits-we-cant-turn-situation-around-in-war-with-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cottontailsonline.com\/world-news\/ukraine-soldier-admits-we-cant-turn-situation-around-in-war-with-russia\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine soldier admits we cant turn situation around in war with Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/78\/590x\/secondary\/A-Ukrainian-soldier-in-Avdiivka-Ukraine-5077906.jpg?r=1700586230063\"><\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian soldiers have shed light on the brutal fighting in the east against Russia as concerns grow that Western support may start to dwindle.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking from the frontlines in the eastern town of Avdiivka, a region at the centre of the fighting, soldiers described the difficulty of pushing back Russian forces at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>One soldier, nicknamed &#8216;Seagull&#8217; to protect his identity, said of the Russian attacks: &#8220;They are just razing everything to the ground.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have never seen anything like this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the New York Times, medic Oleksandr added: &#8220;We understand that it will be longer, harder and there will be more losses&#8230;(but) we will stay here as long as necessary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/78\/590x\/secondary\/Russian-forces-have-razed-everything-to-the-ground-5077908.jpg?r=1700586230138\"><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/78\/590x\/secondary\/Avdiivka-is-at-the-centre-of-the-fighting-5077910.jpg?r=1700586230189\"><\/p>\n<p>A third soldier, nicknamed Synoptic, has been defending Avdiivka since the very start of the war in February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that Ukraine&#8217;s resistance is dependent on its allies in the West, saying: &#8220;Ukraine itself is unlikely to be able to do anything to turn the situation around; it\u2019s a question of allies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is necessary for us to have an advantage in everything \u2014 then a breakthrough is possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We do not have this advantage. They have more aviation, radio reconnaissance, electronic warfare and more people.
