This is the dramatic moment Israeli soldiers raided the homes of Hamas leaders after storming through the Gaza Strip in tanks.

Video footage released by the IDF shows the military engaging in a fierce gun battle in the streets of the strip’s upscale Rimal neighbourhood.

Troops can then be seen pressing a block of apartments said to be housing terrorists who orchestrated the October 7 attack on Israel.

Tanks and rocket launchers support their advance before another video shows IDF soldiers patrolling the streets of Gaza.

It came as some 31 babies were evacuated from al-Shifa hospital yesterday amid fears of a growing humanitarian crisis.

The IDF also released new images taken near the Al-Shifa hospital that it claims proves that Hamas has been using it to hide and avoid strikes from its forces.

They showed what Israel claims to be a be the entrance to an operational tunnel shaft leading underneath the building.

They insisted the new video proves Hamas militants have been using the hospital and anyone seeking shelter and refuge inside as a “human shield”.

The IDF said: “IDF and ISA forces revealed a significant 55-meter-long terrorist tunnel, 10 meters underneath the Al-Shifa Hospital complex during an intelligence-based operation.

“The tunnel entrance contains various defence mechanisms, such as a blast-proof door and a firing hole, in an attempt by Hamas to block Israeli forces from entering.

“For weeks we’ve been telling the world about Hamas’ cynical use of the residents of Gaza and patients of Shifa Hospital as human shields. Here is more proof.”

Israel continues to bombard the Gaza Strip with airstrikes as it continues its push to crush Hamas.

The humanitarian situation is continuing to worsen.

According to The Red Cross, some 1.5 million civilians have been forced to flee south amid the Israeli onslaught from land, air and sea.

Hamas’ health officials claim more than 11,000 civilians, including more than 4,500 children have been killed, but the figures remain unverified.

Benjamin Netanyahu admitted Israel has “not been successful” in reducing civilian casualties.

He said the deaths, however, must be blamed on Hamas – not Israel.
