Rishi Sunak responds to Daily Express Political Editor over role on ECHR in UK

Rishi Sunak is facing yet more trouble on his backbenches as a second poll in 24 hours appears to have suggested that his controversial reshuffle on Monday has infuriated voters.

A Find Out Now poll conducted for the Daily Mirror has given Labour a 27-point lead with the Conservatives marooned on 19 percent.

This followed the People Polling for GB News giving Labour a 30-point lead with the Tories again stuck on 19 percent.

One Conservative MP told Express.co.uk: “I have seen enough. This is not coming back.”

The MP was one of many considering putting letters in to 1922 Committee chairman Sir Graham Brady asking for a confidence vote in Mr Sunak as party leader.

The fury for MPs on the right of the party is over a tack to the left by the Prime Minister after he sacked Suella Braverman as Home Secretary.

However, one MP said last night that Mr Sunak had bought himself more time because “he went further than expected on Rwanda” after Supreme Court judges rejected the deportation scheme to tackle the migrant crisis.

The Prime Minister notably did not rule out getting out of the european Convention of Human Rights (EHR) as many of his MPs are demanding.

But others, having seen the two polls are now pushing for a leadership vote.

Dame Andrea Jenkyns, who has already submitted a letter, was one of the first to urge fellow Tory MPs to follow suit.
