In a damning response to Scotland Yard\u2019s handling of demonstrations, the Prime Minister dismissed claims that officers need new powers to deal with hate crimes on Britain\u2019s streets and told them to get on with the job using laws already in place.<\/p>\n

He warned that calls for Muslim armies to rise up are a threat to the Jewish community and \u201cour democratic values\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Sunak also announced British intelligence believes the deadly blast at a Gaza hospital last week was likely caused by a missile launched from within the region towards Israel.<\/p>\n

Updating MPs on the latest developments following the October 7 atrocity, the PM officers must show the \u201cfull force of the law\u201d against extremist demonstrators.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cCalls for Jihad on our streets are not only a threat to the Jewish community but to our democratic values.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we expect the police to take all necessary action to tackle extremism head-on.\u201d<\/p>\n

MPs said British Jews are \u201cincreasingly feeling unsafe\u201d in their own country which had been made worse by the \u201capparent refusal of the Metropolitan Police to do anything about it\u201d.<\/p>\n

Downing Street said new measures are not needed to tackle extremist language during protests because forces already have \u201cextensive powers\u201d.<\/p>\n

Home Secretary Suella Braverman confronted Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley about the decision not to arrest protestors chanting jihad at a pro-Palestine march on Saturday.<\/p>\n

At an event on Saturday organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir, – which former leaders Sir Tony Blair and David Cameron both tried to ban – a speaker was filmed asking: \u201cWhat is the solution to liberate people in the concentration camp called Palestine?\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, at least one man in the crowd could be heard chanting: \u201cJihad, jihad, jihad\u201d.<\/p>\n

Police provoked fury after claiming \u2018jihad\u2019 has a \u201cnumber of meanings\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sir Mark said that hate crime laws \u201cprobably need redrawing\u201d as he defended Scotland Yard\u2019s handling of the rallies.<\/p>\n

The Met Commissioner insisted officers were \u201cruthless in tackling anybody who puts their foot over the legal line\u201d.<\/p>\n

But he suggested some of the lines \u201caren\u2019t in the right place\u201d.<\/p>\n
