Sandwiched between France and Spain in the Pyrynees mountain range, the tiny European nation of Andorra is famed for its beautiful scenery and impressive ski resorts.<\/p>\n

Although French, Spanish and Portuguese are widely spoken, the official language of Andorra is Catalan. According to the 2022 Census, Andorra has a population of 81, 588.<\/p>\n

But it is estimated that more than 10 million tourists descend on the tiny country every single year – meaning that visitors actually outnumber the locals by more than 100 to 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The country’s economy relies heavily upon foreign visitors, with 60 percent of its income coming from tourism and commerce.<\/p>\n

Covering an area of just 180 square miles, 92 percent of the nation is forest land – so it’s no wonder its known as nature lovers’ paradise.<\/p>\n

Andorra is home to the pretty ski resorts of Soldeu El Tarter,\u00a0<\/p>\n

Vallnord Pal-Arinsal and and Grandvalira, which visitors say are great for beginners and intermediate skiiers, with steeper slopes for more those with a more advanced skill level.<\/p>\n

The Lagos de Tristania is also well worth a visit – with one visitor from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, writing on TripAdvisor: “It is a very nice drive from Ordino with lots of wild ponies on the side of the road (and on the road).<\/p>\n

“From the top of the ski lift station, it really is a short hike and an easy one with amazing views of the lakes. Absolutely worth a visit.”<\/p>\n

While another impressed tourist from Latvia, said:\u00a0“When you reach the top of the hill, you have wonderful and breathtaking view of the lakes. Together we spent three hours there and it was a fantastic walk.”<\/p>\n

Tourists should not miss out on the Mirador del Roc del Quer observation tower, which gives you unrivalled views of the stunning mountainous backdrop.<\/p>\n

On a clear day, you’ll be able to see for miles around. The same can be said for the Canillo Tibetan Bridge, which is nearly 1,900 meters above sea level.<\/p>\n

The drive up presents spectacular vistas at nearly every turn and if you’re lucky enough to visit during the winter months, you will likely see the Eastern Pyrenees covered in snow, making the experience that little bit more magical.<\/p>\n

The country’s capital – Andorra la Vella – boasts several shopping centres including\u00a0Meritxell Avenue – home to independent luxury\u00a0boutiques and jewelers on.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the old quarter, Barri Antic, houses Romanesque Santa Coloma Church, with a pretty circular bell tower.<\/p>\n
