Grand Bahama Shipyard Ltd., jointly owned by Carnival Corp. and Royal Caribbean Group, is planning a $600 million “transformation” project that will include two floating drydocks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The floating drydocks, expected to be delivered in 2025 and 2026, are under construction at CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co. in China.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Grand Bahama Shipyard say the floating docks will be the largest in the Western Hemisphere and include a mega dock capable of servicing all existing and currently planned cruise ships.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Infrastructure construction is set to begin in the last quarter of 2023 and be complete in 2025. ‘<\/p>\n
The shipyard also plans to expand its four-year apprenticeship program to include 16 to 20 new apprentices each year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
