According to a media report, Isuzu is said to be working on an all-electric pickup truck for the global market. The upcoming electric pickup will be Isuzu’s first production EV in the passenger vehicle segment.

The new Isuzu electric pickup will be based on the brand’s D-Max and will debut sometime in 2025. The reports state that the 2025 Isuzu pickup will be manufactured in Thailand. It will first go on sale in Europe, before gradually making its way into the international market.

The official confirmation regarding the electric pickup came alongside the launch of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross facelift model in Thailand. Shinsuke Minami, Isuzu President & COO, stated, “Isuzu is actively making efforts to realize a carbon-neutral society. Going forward, Isuzu plans to produce a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) pickup truck in Thailand. Isuzu will first introduce it in Europe and then examine its gradual rollout by meeting the needs of each market, including Thailand.”

Isuzu recently presented a full-electric version of its NRR series of LCVs earlier this year. The electric LCVs are said to enter production in 2024 and will come in different assemblies of 20 kWh battery packs. Reports suggest that even the electric passenger version could adopt a similar solution.

Details of the upcoming electric Isuzu pickup though are still scarce, with more information expected to be announced in the near future.
