The Prime Minister said the legal age for buying cigarettes would increase by one year every year in a bid to tackle the \u201cbiggest cause of preventable death and disease in our country\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mr Sunak said \u201ca 14-year-old today will never legally be sold a cigarette\u201d, under new legislation for England.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n Professor Chris Whitty, England\u2019s chief medical officer, said: \u201cSmoking damages many lives.<\/p>\n \u201cIt causes stillbirths, asthma in children, heart disease, stroke and dementia, in addition to causing most lung cancer and an increasing risk of many other cancers.\u201d<\/p>\n
