Get the biggest stories and wackiest takes from the Daily Star, including our special WTF Wednesday email<\/p>\n<p>We have more newsletters<\/p>\n<p>A horror bus crash has killed at least 21 people after the vehicle careened off the road onto a railway line.<\/p>\n<p>A further 12 people are injured and several are missing following the &quot;apocalyptic&quot; incident in Mestre in Venice, Italy, reports local news outlet La Repubblica. Between four and five people are unaccounted for.<\/p>\n<p>The bus fell from an elevated part of a road and landed on the train track this evening (Tuesday, October 3). Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: &quot;A huge tragedy struck our community this evening.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article31098136.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Bus-accident-in-Mestre-kilss-at-least-two-and-injures-many-more-Italy-03-Oct-2023.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>&quot;I immediately declared the city to be in mourning, in memory of the numerous victims who were on the fallen bus. I am in close contact with the mayor Luigi Brugnaro and with the minister Matteo Piantedosi for follow the news on this tragedy.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The Local Health Authority 3 of Venice triggered a &quot;major emergencies&quot; protocol in a bid to make sure resources would be available at all nearby hospitals. The railway line between Mestre and central Venice has also been temporarily suspended following the incident.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article31098137.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Pullman-precipitato-Vigili-fuoco-al-momento-18-vittime-MESTRE-03-Oct-2023.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The circumstances leading up to the crash are not currently known.
