Britain faces a battering from four more storms by Christmas after 80mph Agnes strikes on Wednesday (September 27).

Atlantic storms Babet and Ciaran will help this autumn become the wildest for years. And they will be followed by Debi and Elin as the remnants of tropical storms and hurricanes blast in.

Agnes is expected to damage buildings, cause power cuts and close roads and bridges. It will weaken on Thursday as it moves further north in the UK, before the nation enjoys calm weather at the weekend.
