Inside 10 Downing Street, there is an ongoing civil war, not between a group of politicians, but between a dog and a cat.<\/p>\n

According to Rishi Sunak\u2019s wife, Larry the cat has been facing off against a new rival, a fox red Labrador called Nova.<\/p>\n

Nova is the Sunak\u2019s family pet, a dog who Akshata Murty says has \u201cmixed emotions\u201d about sharing territory with Larry.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Kid\u2019s FYI programme, she talked about what it was like living in the famous house and the complications that have come from Nova and her new housemate.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Times reported that she said: \u201cI feel lucky, so grateful and so honoured to live here.<\/p>\n

\u201cNova has mixed emotions [\u2026] because she sometimes doesn\u2019t get on with Larry the cat, and they\u2019ve had some heated exchanges and Larry\u2019s come out on top.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Nova is embroiled in a furry civil war, this isn\u2019t her first time on the famous street having lived with the family whilst Mr Sunak was Chancellor.<\/p>\n

She joined the family after Mr Sunak\u2019s daughters reportedly begged for a dog after meeting Boris Johnson\u2019s Jack Russell cross Dilyn.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

After Mr Sunak moved into No10, Nova suddenly found herself face to face with Larry, a tabby cat who has been a staple of Downing Street since 2011.<\/p>\n

According to the No10 website: \u201cLarry spends his days greeting guests to the house, inspecting security defences and testing antique furniture for napping quality.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis day-to-day responsibilities also include contemplating a solution to the mouse occupancy of the house. Larry says this is still \u2018in the tactical planning stage\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about life inside 10 Downing Street, Ms Murty said she enjoyed living in the building.<\/p>\n

She explained that she enjoyed having a \u201csneak peek in a way of historical place\u201d.<\/p>\n

She added that it was a \u201cvery special time in my life to help support my husband in the job he\u2019s doing while opening up the doors to young people\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ms Murty commented: \u201cI\u2019ve had a busy life before. I have a busy life now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what\u2019s been incredible is the range of opportunities that I\u2019ve been exposed to, meeting really interesting people.\u201d<\/p>\n
