Millions are expected to pull sickies today (Monday) to lap up the final day of the September heatwave in a Great British Bunk Off.<\/p>\n
Experts predict it will be the biggest day of the year for skiving with a 20% surge in staff skipping work as the mercury soars to 28C before rapidly cooling to 21C and showers from Tuesday.<\/p>\n
It comes after a week of record-breaking 30-plus scorchers following a washout July and August this year.<\/p>\n

BrightHR, which monitors absence among 814,000 Brit workers, said bosses should brace themselves for the number of staff playing hookey rising by a fifth tomorrow.<\/p>\n

The firm said holiday requests are also up by a quarter compared to a year ago \u2013 when dismal conditions saw temperatures dip into the low teens at this time in 2022.<\/p>\n
Shirkers are expected to catch the last rays of summer before the long and dark autumn and winter months set in by sunbathing in their gardens or hitting pubs and beaches across the UK.<\/p>\n
