A horrific video shows the moment a social media stunt went horribly wrong as a plane crashed in front of oblivious guests of a gender reveal party.

In San Pedro, Mexico, a family was hosting a ceremony to announce the parents-to-be were having a baby girl when disaster struck.

The expecting couple were holding hands in front of a sign that read “Oh Baby,” and pink smoke was released by the plane as it began to descend.

Those at the gender reveal appeared oblivious to the unfurling tragedy, as the plane began to crash.

Before realizing the tragedy that had occurred, the couple continued to embrace while family members congratulated them.

The 32-year-old pilot, named locally as Luis Angel N., was later found lying in the wreckage of the plane before he was rushed to hospital, where he died, according to local media.

Video of the incident went viral online, with one person saying: “The way the camera panned back to the couple with not the slightest care in the world for the pilot is sad.”

Another added: “Why do they have to do such extreme gender reveals lately? Why can’t they just settle for something simple?”
