Brits are facing the prospect of torrential rain, thunder and lightning today from 11am until 8pm, as the bank holiday threatens to be a damp squib.<\/p>\n
It’s the east coast in particular that is under threat, with a yellow weather warning in place from Skegness in Lincolnshire all the way up to Dunbar in Scotland.<\/p>\n
According to the Met Office: “Slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some localised flooding and disruption on Saturday afternoon.”<\/p>\n
Cities inland are also under threat, with Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield all expecting to be engulfed in the treacherous weather.<\/p>\n
Meteorologists at the Met Office have also warned that there is “some flooding of a few homes and businesses possible, leading to some damage to buildings or structures.<\/p>\n
The experts added: “There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray and standing water, leading to longer journey times by car and bus. Delays to train services are possible”<\/p>\n
They also noted that there is a “a small chance of some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes, as well as short term loss of power.”<\/p>\n
