It's no wonder that Las Vegas has been dubbed. "Sin City! The smell of cheap booze, the ringing of slot, machines, and the flashing neon lights literally transport you to a paradise where all your, guilty and sinful pleasures are sated. Although it is said that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, wouldn't you like to know about the crazy world of gambling inside the city's famous casinos? Stay tuned till the end! But before we get into today's video, consider giving us a big thumbs up and smashing the subscribe button so that we know you want, to see more of this content on the channel. Without any further delay, let us get into. the video! Some people would risk it all on the odd chance they could win enough to live the rest of their lives comfortably. They prefer to not be tied down to a job and. held ransom by bills that are due. We have all heard stories about people who, risked it all and went home with loads of cash. Elmer Sherwin was one such lucky man, who bet everything he had in one of Las Vegas' casinos in 1989.By putting just 100 dollars, as a bet and having lots of luck, he hit a jackpot of 5 million dollars on the first. try. That's insane, isn't it? Sherwin spent all the money he won on travelling. He then traveled all over the world and came, back to this slot machine after 16 years. Curiously, fate was kind to him once again. This time, his prize was $21 million! There are also a few other players who gamble for a good cause. Yes, we are talking about Robin Hood of the. gambling world, who risks it all to give the poor their dues. A high-stakes blackjack player who calls himself, Robin Hood 702 is a hero to families in debt after putting his stakes and edge over the house to good use and paying off their debt with his blackjack winnings. Each year he goes to Las Vegas to win enough, to ease one lucky family's troubles. Back in 2008, he helped a girl with brain. cancer and her family out of medical debt. He even has a website where you can submit your story and get a life-changing amount of up to 50,000 dollars. On the other hand, it seems that some gamblers, do not have a stroke of luck! Terrance Watanabe's losing streak is the biggest that Las Vegas has ever seen. After Watanabe inherited the Oriental Trading. Company and sold it, it looks like he was bored and wanted to try something new! His gambling habits pushed him into more extreme, scenarios year after year. Back in 2007, he incurred 127 million dollars, in losses after gambling over 825 million dollars. Although he has covered most of his debt, even to this day, he owes 15 million dollars! That sounds absolutely horrifying! However, it is the rags to riches stories like that of Archie Karas that inspire people to gamble. Karas was a Greek immigrant who arrived in America, learnt how to play poker and then ended up in Vegas. He had only 50 dollars in his pocket when. he decided to try his luck at one of the city's famous casinos. However, luck seemed to be his friend because, Karas went on a three-year winning streak and turned that 50 dollars into a whopping

40 million. However his story didn't have a happy ending. He eventually lost his fortune and was caught. cheating, which led him to be banned from all the casinos in the state of Nevada. Although many cheats have been caught, a few of them still walk free despite having cheated casinos out of small fortunes. The MIT Black jack team used card counting. techniques to beat casinos and earn millions. This team was composed of students from Harvard, MIT and other prominent schools. They used organised scientific tactics to, beat these casinos at their own game! The group's ringleader, Bill Kaplan, trained. more than 100 blackjack players over the years and supposedly made a huge fortune of 10 million, dollars for himself and his investors. Although card counting is perfectly legal, it is still frowned upon. Eventually, casinos caught wind of the elaborate, scheme and began barring members of the team from gambling. Although some members continued to play, the. team had mostly broken up by 1993. The team's exploits even helped inspire the 2008 movie, 21. That's crazy, isn't it? However, you have got to admit that it was smart as hell! The most puzzling incident of a casino being. cheated was when William John Brennan managed to walk out of the Stardust hotel on the Las. Vegas strip with stolen cash, unscathed! Back in 1992, Brennan walked out the door, of the casino with half a million dollars worth of cash and chips in a bag. He was never seen again. Perhaps the most puzzling part was that according to the reports, no cameras picked up his exit. We all know that casinos are extra careful and take the issue of security very seriously. Although a warrant was issued for his arrest,, the case remains unresolved almost 30 years later. How exactly did Las Vegas become the gambling capital of the world despite being located in the centre of the hot Mojave desert? Its history goes back to the late 1800s. During the California gold rush back then,. explorers and seekers settled into the area now known as Las Vegas. They also brought their gambling practices. with them. But a nationwide crackdown on gambling eradicated. gambling establishments from the area. However, in 1905, the city of Las Vegas, as. we know it today, was founded. In its early days, it was just a small town. that was established as a stopover for trains travelling between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Since gambling is man's favorite pastime,. despite it being outlawed, there were some underground casinos that still operated. 1931 was the year that changed the future. outlook of Las Vegas forever. That year helped make Vegas what it is today. First the construction of Hoover Dam was started, that brought thousands of workers into the town. They found gambling to be a good source of. entertainment. Later on, gambling was legalized in the city. This brought an influx of money for the city's. economy, and it started to prosper. Tommy Hull was a businessman who saw a great opportunity in starting a gambling business. He was almost certain that he could amass, a small fortune! He was the first person who was granted a

license to build a casino in Las Vegas. He then built El Rancho, the first hotel-casino in the city. It was built in the area that has come to. be known as the Vegas Strip. Tommy Hull's astronomical success brought. many other businessmen to Las Vegas. Several more of these hotel casinos were built. The most famous of which, the Flamingo, was. built by the famous mobster Bugsy Seigel. In the 1970s the trend of turning hotel casinos into mega resorts brought more good fortunes for the city. This helped to transform Las Vegas from a gambling city into a family vacation spot because these resorts provided all sorts of, entertainment aside from gambling. Now, Las Vegas has transformed into the most, glamorous city in the world and is obviously the gambling capital of the world. As of today, there are 143 casinos that adorn the city's skyline. These attract nearly 40 million tourists from, all over the world, which helps contribute to the 1.3 billion dollar revenue of the city. Gambling accounts for nearly three-quarters, of it.The people of this city are so obsessed with gambling that even the city jail had a poker table! Yeah, that's right! The Nevada state prison had a casino inside, it for 35 years. The inmates could play blackjack, craps, poker,, and even bet on sports inside the bullpen. The Bullpen was a stone building on the prison's. grounds in Carson City from 1932 to 1967. However, a new warden from California shut. it down that year, saying gambling was a degradation to the inmates. I bet the inmates are really bored right now,, huh? Many casino owners have a few tricks up their. sleeve to entice people to come and spend all their money at the casinos. Enter any casino around the world. You will notice that you cannot see outside. or find any way to tell the time. If you are looking at your phone for a long time, you will likely get asked politely by security to put your device away. Casinos will remove any reminder that you. have been playing on their gambling floor for hours. As you keep playing, you will likely lose. your bankroll to the house. Windows are distractions, and these distractions, waste casinos' valuable revenue. Time is nonexistent in the Las Vegas casinos. because the goal here is to get you hooked on playing various casino games and enjoy them endlessly. The Vegas casinos also serve free booze to. all gamblers. You don't even have to sit down at a 100 dollars blackjack table. They'll bring you cocktails at the penny slots too. This is because an endless stream of booze. translates into a steady flow of money from buzzed gamblers' wallets. Gambling can be fun. Betting everything for a chance to win millions, might seem attractive. However, there is a huge probability of losing, everything. But it's okay to let loose sometimes and enjoy. the magical glory that Las Vegas has to offer. So what did you think of today's video? Let us know in the comments.
