A man called hardworking by friends caught up in a deadly police pursuit while on his way to work it evening, everyone I'm Mike Mibach Julie Julie Haener tonight. KTVU is Jana Katsuyama spoke with family and friends and she joins us now in studio. Janna What have you learned? Julian Mike, This is really so heartbreaking. Just hearing from the family about this person that they lost today who was just on his way to work. I want to just let you know what the family says tonight. They say that their loved one Augustine. Cortisol. Was the worker. He's They say he was the life of the party and would fill any room he stepped into with positive energy. They say that it is with deep sorrow. We are public. Oakland Police say they've been chasing a suspect in a silver Honda sedan. The suspect's car crashed into a red pickup truck. I saw like 10 cops with their guns out. Pointing pointing to a male and he had his hands up and he just surrendered. But the driver of the truck was killed in the crash. Neighbors say they heard the sound of the truck's horn blaring from the weight of the victim's body. On the steering column. Friends and co workers say that innocent victim was Augustine Coyote Oh 44 year old Oakland resident who was killed on his way to work at Bayview Environmental Services, just one block away. Coworkers say Toyota had been an employee for more than 20 years. They say he was a good worker, diligent and a generous mentor with several brothers who also worked at the site in line with department policy, the officers involved in the incident. Oakland police Chief Laurent Armstrong says the chase was approved by supervisors officers spotted the suspect, 23 year old Jonathan Hernandez, getting into his Honda accord and tried to pull him over. But he refused to stop after the crash. Hernandez was arrested at the scene and officers found a gun, police say . Three days earlier, Hernandez into another driver at 73rd and International. Hernandez got out of his vehicle.
