I need this today. Don't judge! It makes the world a better place. Anyway, gotta talk to you about something very important today. New rules and regulations in Mauritius. Got this. Let's do it. But before I get into the main body of the video I just want to talk about my experience with coming back into Mauritius because we flew in last week. And I have to say that it is definitely a process. Help us! Infact we landed up spending three hours at customs and immigration. So yes, there were a lot of people. But the officials there were very friendly and super organised, and we eventually made it through. After that we headed to the beach, which is our happy place here on the island. And it was absolutely wonderful to see luggage tags on bags, on the beach. Lots of different languages were being spoken. The food trucks once again had queues and I could see that there were wind surfers and kite surfers on the beach. So we're all super excited to be open again. But just beware that things might take a little bit longer at the airport. than what they used to. So I did a video for you last week about the new travel rules with regards to coming to Mauritius. And this week there's a very important update. Because Mauritius is joining a whole host of other countries worldwide in now bringing out this sanitary health pass or a digital health pass, or a covid-19 vaccination pass. Whatever you want to call it. So what that means is that from the 15 October you're going to need to have one of these health passes in order to enter virtually anything on the island. whether it be a casino, a restaurant, a supermarket, a gym. So as of today if you're living or working in Mauritius. If you're a general member of the public You're going to need to be double vaccinated. And then as of the 15th October, you're going to need to have that digital health pass. The only people that are going to be exempt are children under the age of 18. And so far, 10% of the population between the ages of 15 and 18 have been vaccinated with the pfizer vaccine. So I'll say that again. At the moment kids under the age of 18 are going to be exempt from this digital pass but everyone else living and working in Mauritius is going to need this digital vaccination pass. What does that mean if you're a tourist? So, what does that mean if you're somebody visiting Mauritius? It means that you're going to need to have a vaccination pass registered in your country, which you can then show as proof of your vaccination while you're here. So for example, I've just been to France and I and I had what's called there a pass sanitaire and that was on my phone which had a QR code. And anywhere I went, whether it be a restaurant, or a bar, or a supermarket, pharmacy. I would have to show this pass on my phone. If you've been vaccinated, you are automatically allowed to enter anywhere in Mauritius as long as you have proof of that vaccination. So whether that be in the form of a printed copy or on your phone via an app it will be accepted. So when you arrive into Mauritius, you're going to have to fill in a passenger locator form. And on that you put your place of residence while you're here in Mauritius. And that's so that the authorities can contact you with your PCR restults. That's both on day 0 when you arrive and then also on day 5 for that antigen test. On the island currently, we're sitting at around 70% of the total population that have been double vaccinated. And of course, as of the 15 October, all of those rules and regulations will come into play which means that if you're not vaccinated life is going to become quite difficult here. So the Be Safe Moris app whether you do it on the app on your phone or if you do it online is going to ask you either for your passport number your NID number and your phone number and from there it'll send you a code. which you'll enter, and then all of your vaccination details will be loaded into this app. Which then means that whenever you go out you can just produce this app on your phone or you can print is out as a, you know, printable document. And you'll be able to show that at restaurants and supermarkets, or where ever you go as proof that you have been double vaccinated. If you're not able to somehow upload this onto a phone, or you're not able to print it you're welcome to go to any post office on the island and they will help you out with this process. So this is all pretty serious. Life as we know it has definitely changed. So yeah, we're living in very interesting, very tricky times right now. Do let me know down in the comments below what you think about all of this. But please, only nice comments nothing hurtful or hate related because of course I don't personally make up these rules. I'm just merely projecting or sharing with you what's going to be happening here on the island regarding these sanitary passes. And well that's it for this week. I will catch you on the next video. See ya!
