Woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann ‘didn’t exist until she was 5-years-old’

The Polish woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann "didn't exist" for the first five years of her life, according to a private investigator.

Julia Wendell, 21, sparked an internet storm after sharing supposed evidence to suggest she might be Madeleine, the Leicestershire girl who went missing during a family holiday to Portugal in 2007 aged three.

Although Madeleine would now be 19, Julia suspects her age may be fake.

Private investigator and self-professed medium Dr Fia Johansson, who previously aided police on missing persons cases in the US, travelled to Poland to visit Julia and look into her claims.

Speaking to RadarOnline, Dr Johansson said her team found no hospital records for Julia in Wroclaw – the city she supposedly grew up in – relating to the first five years of her life.

She said: “It was so strange because everything in Julia’s health book, everything, started at the age of five.

“So, everything between the ages of zero months to five years – everything — is missing!

“And there is no signature by a doctor showing that they had removed any of the records from her file. She just doesn’t exist during that time frame.”

Julia previously claimed she does not remember large parts of her childhood, and that she was never treated as part of the family by her parents or siblings.

She also claimed she was abused by a German paedophile who resembled a one-time suspect in Madeleine's disappearance. She supposedly found a family photo of that man in an older relative's house.

Other "evidence" she has put forward includes a speck in her eye like Madeleine and her allegedly overhearing her mum admit to "taking" her.

Her parents are understood to be refusing to take a DNA test despite insisting Julia's claims are not true.

Polish law does not allow for Julia or Dr Johansson's team to force them to take one, the investigator said.
