Rahim Yar Khan Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza said around 30 rescuers including expert swimmers were seen at the spot of the search operation.

It has been reported that there were between 90-100 passengers onboard at the time of the incident.

Raza said that the boat capsized because of overloading and a high flow of water, according to Times of India.

He added that "there could be more casualties."

Government official Aslam Tasleem said: "We have retrieved 20 bodies so far.

"We're not sure how many people were exactly on the boat. We're getting estimates just on the basis of family members accounts."

The Daily Star previously reported how more than ten people died during a wedding ceremony in India.
