Twitter users are reporting a major outage on the site, with over 2,000 users affected in the past few minutes.

Even though – according to Twitter’s own error reporting system – there are no current problems.

One disgruntled social media fan, writing on error reporting site Down Detector, saids “At this point twitter is breaking every other week,” and many others are suggesting that owner Elon Musk had run the social network into the ground and should sell it to someone more competent.

Many users have complained that they’re seeing a cryptic error message that reads: “Twitter is having global issues with error message ‘your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint”.

The same error message is popping up for some users when they try to access Twitter’s “pro” application TweetDeck.

Industry insiders have long feared that Musk’s policy of massive layoffs would sooner or later crash the popular social network for good.

One former employee told The Washington Post that they knew of at least six critical systems that “no longer have any engineers,” predicting that Twitter would “continue to coast until it runs into something, and then it will stop.”

Musk has demanded total commitment from his remaining workforce. Top Twitter executive Esther Crawford tried to set an example of the new culture at the company when she posted a picture of herself in a sleeping bag on the floor next to her desk.

The caption read: “When your team is pushing round the clock to make deadlines sometimes you #SleepWhereYouWork.”

She has since been fired, along with some 10,000 other employees.

The massive wave of job cuts leaves a skeleton crew of roughly 2,000 to maintain a site used by more than 240 million people every day.
