Small wildfire burning in Jefferson County about two miles east of Foxton

A wildfire, perhaps sparked by a downed powerline, has broken out in southern Jefferson County just east of Foxton.

The fire has burned about five acres in the Romona Gulch and Dome Rock area, where some residents are being evacuated, according to the North Fork Volunteer Fire Department.

 

The fire is burning along the 17000 block of West Platte River Road, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Air support, including helicopters and airplanes, are responding, according to Pike & San Isabel National Forests officials.

Evacuees from the Platte River fire are asked to check in at Conifer High School.
