The two candidates held their first televised debate in Cleveland, Ohio, last night, ahead of the upcoming election on November 3. However, the debate quickly descended into chaos as both Mr Trump and Mr Biden shouted over each other, as well as the moderator Chris Wallace, as they attempted to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and racial tensions that have gripped the United States this year. Mr Biden also lost his temper at one point adfter being continuously interrupted by the current President, snapping: “Will you shut up, man?”
Good Morning Britain host Mr Morgan initially shared his excitement at the prospect of watching an “absolute stonker” of a debate.
He tweeted last night: “Bedtime. Not missing a second of this first US presidential debate.
“Got a feeling it’s going to be an absolute stonker.”
But he quickly changed his mind only a few hours later when he posted an update on Twitter.
Mr Morgan said: “UPDATE: I should have slept in.
“What a shameful sh*t-show.”
Mr Trump also faced brutal criticism from an array of celebrities for his performance during the debate.
Marvel star Ruffalo said: “He has no leadership qualities, he has shown that all he can do is denigrate and lie”.
Author Stephen King, who is a supporter of Mr Biden, added: “You’ve got a decent man vs. a hulking, loudmouth bully with no specific plans on anything.”
Mr Trump was also ripped apart for failing to condemn white supremacy.
Actress Kerry Washington tweeted: “Once again. He refuses to condemn White supremacy. PAY ATTENTION FOLKS. Please vote.”
Comedian and actress Robin Thede added: “He encouraged it. The end. There are no two sides to this.”

The stinging attack came after Mr Trump said: “Proud Boys — Stand back, stand by, but I’ll tell you what.
“I’ll tell you what. Somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not right-wing problem.”
Mr Biden shot back: “You’re the worst president America has ever had.”
Mr Wallace also tried to reel in Mr Trump as he ignored his time limits and talked over Mr Biden.
He said: “I think that the country would be better served if we allowed both people to speak with fewer interruptions.
“I’m appealing to you, sir, to do that.”
Mr Biden also highlighted Mr Trump’s record on the coronavirus pandemic which has killed more than 200,000 people in the US.
He accused him of failing to protect Americans because he was more concerned about the economy.
He said: “He panicked or he looked at the stock market.
“You should get out of your bunker and get out of the sand trap and the golf course and go in the Oval Office and put together Democrats and Republicans, and fund what needs to be done now to save lives.”
Mr Trump replied he had taken measure such as restricting travel from China, where the pandemic is thought to have started.
He said: “We have done a great job.”
