Landlady asked are you eating her? as demonic man carried out bloody murder

When landlady Mandy Miles burst into room seven of her hostel after hearing blood-curdling screams, she was met with a scene straight out of a horror film.

Demonic Matthew Williams was hunched over Cerys Yemm, hacking at her face as blood pooled around the young woman's body.

At first Mrs Miles thought Williams was eating her face. His eyes were black, she said, and he carried on his crazed attack as she locked the room and fled to get help.

The frantic woman told a 999 operator: “He’s shoving a screwdriver in her face. He’s actually chewing her face.

“He’s been locked in room seven. I don’t know who he’s hurting.

"There’s a lad in the room. He’s actually eating her. It’s awful."

Mrs Miles sobbed as she continued: “There was screaming and screaming. Oh my God. It’s awful.

“I went into the room and he’s killed her. Oh my God. Is this real?"

The horrific attack occurred in the early hours of November 6, 2014, at the Sirhowy Arms Hotel in the village of Argoed, South Wales.

Mrs Miles had been wrapping Christmas presents in a cottage in the grounds of the B&B when her son came to her.

He said he had been told that Williams was in his room with a woman, which was not permitted under the rules of the establishment.

Mrs Miles later told an inquest: “I shouted to him, ‘Matthew, do you know what you are doing? Are you eating her?’

“Science has proved that he wasn’t but that’s what it looked like. There’s just blood dripping from her. It was horrific.”

She added: “He didn’t react to me. He only reacted to Christian. He stopped and went straight back down to her."

Shop worker Cerys, who met Williams on a night out, was left with 89 shocking injuries.

The 22-year-old, described as "beautiful and caring" by her devastated family, also had bite marks on her stomach and wrist.

But there was no evidence to suggest the killer had eaten her.

The first police officer who showed up at the scene of horror heard "demonic" shouting and growling coming from the locked room.

She had been ordered to go into the hostel four times but waited for backup rather than face the crazed killer alone.

A colleague then arrived and said Williams “looked possessed” when he entered the room.

He said attack was “the most horrendous thing” he had seen. “I have never been more scared in my entire life," he later told an inquest.

“I spoke to him but he was looking possessed. There was an angry sort of look and his eyes were almost all black.”

Williams died from a cardiac arrest after being tasered four times.

High on a cocktail of drugs including mind-bending meow-meow, the 34-year-old had been released from jail just two weeks earlier with no medication or supervision.

He had been sectioned twice and was diagnosed with schizophrenia after saying he was a tree and that his food was poisoned.

Years later, Williams' ex-girlfriend Emma Thomas released drawings and letters by the killer.

One haunting picture that Williams drew four months before his release from Parc Prison in Bridgend, showed a grinning skull with a message beneath saying: “God forgive me for my sins and the ones I am about to do, too”.

Another drawing showed two skulls, a man looking out of a prison window, a clock, an hourglass, a devil figure and a blackbird – regarded as a symbol of death.
