Lakewood police investigating drive-by shooting that left two in critical condition

Two men were injured Sunday night in an apparent drive-by shooting, Lakewood police said.

Police began receiving calls about the incident around 10:37 p.m. Sunday. According to police, there were 10-15 people gathered at a house party in the 5400 block of 6th Avenue Frontage Road when a dark colored SUV drove by and fired several shots into the group of people.

Two adult males are in critical condition, police said. No suspect information has been released.

Police acknowledge the similarities between this shooting and one in Denver earlier on Sunday that left nine injured in an apparent drive-by shooting at a park gathering in the Valverde neighborhood. It is too soon to tell if they two incidents are connected.

This is an ongoing investigation and police ask any witnesses to contact the Lakewood Police Department.
