Kate and William in stitches at Wimbledon as Carole Middleton sticks tongue out

British tennis ace Cameron Norrie may have stolen the day on the court at Wimbledon, but Carole Middleton did the same off the court on Tuesday (July 5).

The mother of Kate Middleton was in the Royal Box on day nine of the tournament, along with her daughter and son-in-law Prince William at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Watching the action unfold in front of them, with comedian David Walliams (and his mother) nearby, there came a moment when Carole playfully poked her tongue out at the Cambridges and merriment ensued, with laughter emanating from the best seats in the house.

Social media users were quick to pass comment on the frivolities, with one onlooker tweeting: “Now I know why William loves Carole Middleton. She is fun. Even drinking and with the tongue out she has class.”

The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in a blue polka dot dress, while she gave a nod towards her role as patron of the club by sporting a green and purple ribbon.

She became patron in 2016, succeeding The Queen who had held the title for over six decades.

Some spectators at SW19 felt the Cambridges’ presence added a ‘buzz’ to the proceedings on a day which saw defending champion Novak Djokovic battle back from two sets down to beat Italian Jannik Sinner, to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash with Norrie, who needed all five sets to eventually battle past Belgium’s David Goffin.

The Cambridges’ outing marks the first royal appearance at Wimbledon this year, which will finish this Sunday (July 10).

And Royal fans on Twitter were pleased to see them, along with the Duchess of Gloucester, with one follower writing: “Let’s celebrate the fact that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were at Wimbledon today and they are so beautiful.”
