Harrys meeting with Queen to exclude aides so hes not annoyed – expert

A royal expert has claimed that if and when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make a visit to the Queen, it will be in a private capacity away from royal aides, so as not to annoy the couple.

Recently, speculation has been rising around when we can expect to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex return to the UK.

In particular, commentators have been conflicted over whether the christening of Meghan and Harry’s daughter Lilibet – which is reportedly expected to take place in the early Autumn – will be a public or private ceremony.

Now – speaking on the Mail’s Palace Confidential podcast – the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English has dismissed rumours of a formal “summit” occurring, instead claiming that any meeting with the Queen will be an informal affair.

She suggested: “If and when it does happen, it will be very much a private family get-together.

“Nonetheless, I think everyone recognises, it will be a pretty awkward one given everything that has happened over the last couple of years.

“But there’s certainly no officials getting involved and I think they know that that’s something that would really wind Harry and Meghan up actually if they were to do so.”

This comes as relations have reportedly been tense between the Sussexes and the rest of ‘The Firm’ since the pair stepped down from royal duties and moved to the US last year.

They came to a head after a revealing interview with host Oprah Winfrey was broadcast in March this year.

During the chat, the prince confessed he had felt "trapped" within the institution of the Royal Family while Meghan revealed that she had struggled with the "intense public pressure" that came with holding a royal title.

The couple also made allegations that an unnamed member of the Royal Family had made comments about the colour of their eldest child Archie’s skin.

Harry has since revealed he is writing a tell-all memoir which is set for release in 2022.
