Prince Harry is set to claim that Prince William left him with "scrapes and bruises" knocked him to the ground in a row over Meghan Markle, according to the Duke of Sussex's new book.

In his upcoming memoir Spare, set to be released on Tuesday (January 10), Harry will claim that the argument started when William called Meghan "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive".

Harry also writes that he called his therapist before his wife after the scrap, according to The Guardian – which claims to have obtained a copy of the book.

Spare will reportedly claim William requested a chat with Harry in 2019 to discuss their strained relationship and problems with the media.

According to Harry, William was already "piping hot" when he arrived at Nottingham Cottage (Harry's London home at the time).

This is when William supposedly called Meghan "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive" – with Harry accusing his brother of simply parroting the press narrative about his wife.

As insults match ensued. Harry reportedly writes that he accused William of not understanding why his younger brother was not content with being a spare.

William is then alleged to have told Harry he was trying to help – which Harry found hard to believe.

An angered William allegedly stepped towards Harry, swearing as he followed his scared younger brother into the kitchen.

Addressing him as "Willy", Harry says he gave his brother a glass of water, urging him to calm down.

According to The Guardian, Harry then writes: "He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast.

"He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out."

Harry reportedly claims that William urged his brother to hit him back, but Harry refused. William would leave but eventually return and apologise, according to Harry.

As Willam left a second time, Harry writes that he turned back to say: "You don’t need to tell Meg about this."

Harry replied: "You mean that you attacked me?"

"I didn’t attack you, Harold," William supposedly said.

Harry writes that he initially listened to his brother, calling his therapist before telling Meghan about the altercation.

In fact, he says he only told Meghan after she noticed marks on his back.

She is said to have been "terribly sad" about the incident but not shocked or angered.
