A gunman is on the run after a mass shooting at a Jehovah’s Witness centre in Hamburg, Germany.
In what has been described in local reports as "an incredible bloodbath" six people have been killed and several others seriously injured at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in the suburb of Alsterdorf.
After the first emergency calls, police forces and ambulances from all over the city have been scrambled to the crime scene. It's currently unclear whether one gunman was involved, or whether multiple shooters were involved in the attack.
NTV reporter Bastian Vollmer reported that "perpetrators" of the attack were on the run.
Several members of the public had called the emergency services just after 9pm to report hearing what they believed to be gunshots on Deelböge Street, just south of the city's airport.
Road cordons have been put in place in Hamburg's Gross Borstel, Deelboege,Eppendorf districts. Locals have been urged by police to stay indoors as the suspect is still believed to be at large.
German police tweeted: "There is a large police operation in #Alsterdorf.
"We are currently examining the background and will provide more information shortly."
Pictures from the scene show dozens of emergency vehicles clustered close to a Jet petrol station.
Residents of Hamburg, Germany's second-biggest city, have been warned of "extreme danger" via Germany's disaster alert app.
The 'NINAwarn,' app warned Germans that "one or more unknown perpetrators shot at people in a church."
