Fourth teenager dies in hospital after Birmingham horror crash killed three pals

A fourth person has died in hospital after succumbing to injuries he sustained on Tuesday night in a horror crash that saw a car plough into a tree.

Tributes have been paid to 18-year-old Nathan Cartwright who passed away four days after the incident that claimed the lives of three others.

The teenager was involved in an accident in Kingswinford, West Midlands, which also killed his friends Joshua Parkes, 21, Lucy Tibbetts and Izzie Floyd, both 16.

A fifth passenger, a 16-year-old girl who was in the back of the Skoda Fabia which crashed into a tree on Tuesday, remains in hospital.

Heartbroken pals have paid tribute to Nathan.

Posting on a fundraising page to support Nathan's loved ones, a friend wrote: "Heaven truly has gained an angel, rest easy Nath will miss seeing your contagious smile and laugh."

Heartbroken friend Sophie Orourke wrote: "It is with great sadness to hear the news that Nathan sadly passed away.

"Nathan was in the car that crashed in kingswinford after fighting for his life he sadly lost his fight and joined his friends.

"At such a sad time I would like to raise money to give to his family to help with the costs of the arrangements needed to be made."

In a statement West Midlands Police said Nathan was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, but sadly died on Saturday.

Josh, 21, was at the wheel of the yellow Skoda Fabia that crashed at 8.50pm on Tuesday.

Josh's childhood friend Kane Allport previously told Mirror Online : "It is such a sad loss.

"We all used to play together as children.

"He was such a bubbly person and he was loving, he would have done anything for anybody who was in need of help.

"Such a short life lived, he will be missed by many.

"The world is so cruel, they will all be missed.

"You don’t expect to wake up to hear someone you’ve known for years and so young to be involved in something horrific."

Kerrie Hart posted: "RIP Josh such a lovely young man gone far too soon."

Friend Izzy Sutton wrote: "Life is so short. Will miss your cheeky smile Josh."

Paying tribute to Lucy, her mother said: "Our beautiful baby has been taken from us.

"You were an inspiration Lulu, you made us smile when you yourself found it so hard to… not just a daughter, a true friend.

"Rest in peace, no-one can hurt you now."

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sgt Dean Caswell, who is leading the investigation, described it as a tragedy and appealed to the public for help.

He said: "This is a tragic time for the families of those involved, and we have specially trained officers who will be supporting them through the difficult time ahead.

"The investigation is at a really early stage, and we're trying to establish exactly what happened and why.

"I'd urge anyone who saw the Skoda driving in the area last night, or who may have captured anything on dash-cam footage, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
