A house fire in Parker destroyed the property and started a grass fire, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, said Connor Christian, public information officer.
Firefighters responded to a fire at 9296 Windhaven Drive around 6:20 p.m. Friday. Other agencies, including Elizabeth Fire Protection District, Franktown Fire Protection District and the Douglas County Sheriff’s office, were also on the scene.
The house ended up becoming “completely engulfed in flames and collapsing,” South Metro Fire Rescue reported. The bulk of the fire was put out, and firefighters were tending to spot fires by the late evening hours.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Christian said.
