Emirates plane goes on 14-hour flight with huge hole in side ‘after loud bang’

Emirates passengers were left terrified after they travelled on a plane with a huge hole on the side after they heard a "loud bang."

The freaky noise was caused by a loose bolt which ripped part of the Airbus A380 plane as holidaymakers were on their way back to Brisbon on Saturday ( July 2 ).

The dramatic scenes took place just 45 minutes after take-off in Dubai, with reports suggesting that the travellers could feel the sound through the floor.

Passengers had no idea what had caused the frightening noise and it wasn't until they had completed their 14-hour trip that they were told what the issue was.

They were left gobsmacked after they discovered the gaping hole shortly before 11pm when they had landed at Brisbane International Airport.

Shocking images showed where the fuselage has been snatched open, which is believed to have been caused by a bolt detached in the nose gear.

One passenger told the Courier Mail: "There was a loud bang and I felt it through the floor as well.

"The cabin crew remained calm, stopped the food service and got on the phone and checked the wings, engines."

While holidaymaker Chris couldn't believe there was a hole, reports The Sun.

An Emirates spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that the aircraft will remain in repairs.

"Our flight EK430 flying from Dubai to Brisbane on July 1 experienced a technical fault during cruise," they said.

"The aircraft landed safely in Brisbane and all passengers disembarked as scheduled.

"The aircraft will remain in Brisbane for assessment and repairs. The safety of our passengers and crew has always been our top priority."
