Denver weather: Sunny, warm Sunday in the city, snow in the mountains

Denver residents will enjoy warm temperatures and sunshine in the Mile High City Sunday.

Highs in the city will top out around 62 degrees Sunday, with sunny skies giving way to some clouds as the day goes on, according to the National Weather Service at Boulder. Residents should expect a breezy day, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

The warm and sunny weather will continue into the start of the work week, with highs in the 50s on Monday and Tuesday, before temperatures drop and the city sees a chance of snow Wednesday.

Snow will hit the mountains on Sunday, with most areas seeing light accumulation of 1 to 4 inches, according to the weather service. Rabbit Ears Pass will see much heavier snowfall, with expected accumulation between 6 and 12 inches.

The foothills and mountains will also see strong winds Sunday, with gusts as high as 80 mph possible overnight in and near the foothills, according to the weather service.
