Denver emergency responders rescue dog from icy pond in Green Valley Ranch.

Emergency responders in Denver rescued a dog on Saturday from an icy pond.

The dog fell through ice in the Green Valley Ranch area, according to the Denver Fire Department. Firefighters urged people to stay off of ice, keep pets on a leash and off ice, and to make sure children do not venture onto ice.

“Ice is not safe so stay off & away,” DFD said on Twitter.

On Thursday a woman and dog were rescued from the icy waters of a pond in Centennial. The two were pulled to safety by a person who witnessed the dog fall through and the dog’s owner go into the water in an attempt to rescue the dog. The dog had chased geese on ice when the ice broke.

“No ice is safe ice,” South Metro Fire Rescue said on Twitter. “If an animal falls through, stay on shore and dial 911 immediately.”
