Members of the Colorado National Guard are being deployed to Washington for the presidential inauguration of Joe Biden.
Up to 21,000 National Guard troops from across the country have been ordered to the swearing-in of the president-elect on Jan. 20, according to Military Times.
Colorado will send 200 members, although that number could change, according to Gov. Jared Polis.
“Colorado will proudly do our part, joining 40 other states across our great nation in sending members of our National Guard to the nation’s capital for our country’s upcoming Presidential inauguration,” Polis said Thursday.
Colorado National Guard troops will help ensure safety and peace in the capital, Polis said.
The order by Polis comes at the request of the District of Columbia’s National Guard.
