A man was hit and killed by a motorist in Aurora on Thursday night, and police are looking for the driver who did not stop.
The hit-and-run incident happened at about 10:50 p.m. near East Hampden Avenue and South Dawson Street, police said in a news release.
Investigators determined that the victim was lying in the left lane of eastbound Hampden Avenue when he was hit by the driver of a black SUV, the release said. The driver did not stop, and the victim died at the scene.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after family is notified. An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on the incident, or on the SUV or driver, is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP). The Thursday night incident is the 42nd traffic-related fatality for the city in 2022, police said.
