Travelport has acquired corporate travel management platform Deem.
The acquisition, for which terms were not disclosed, was announced Friday. Deem was previously owned by Enterprise Holdings.
Travelport CEO Greg Webb said Deem will operate as an independent unit under the Travelport umbrella. Deem will continue to support multiple GDSs and the company’s operations will remain the same.
At the same time, Deem will be integrated with the Travelport+ retail travel platform for travel advisors. The timeline for that is around 120 days.
Webb said that Travelport will “take advantage of some of the technical synergy that exists.” For instance, Deem has used a third party for some of its NDC connections; going forward, it will use Travelport+’s NDC connections. Also, Deem will benefit from Travelport’s global reach.
Webb called Deem the “most modern, most easy to use, most effective corporate online booking tool.”
Travelport+ launched in April 2021. It is a platform replacing the company’s three legacy GDSs: Galileo, Apollo and Worldspan.
Webb said more than 80% of Travelport’s customers are using Travelport+, and he expects the rest will be upgraded in the next 18 to 24 months.
According to Webb, a number of Travelport customers are already Deem users, but the company will look to expand the number of agencies using both.
