And while airfares may slowly start to rise back toward pre-pandemic levels, travel deals from hotels, airlines, and cruise lines are still rolling in—providing plenty of incentive to start making plans. Whether you’re considering a tropical getaway, a close-to-home weekend trip, or are ready to make big plans for 2022, here are the best travel deals to consider booking sooner rather than later—most of which have flexible cancellation policies, should circumstances change.

Don’t be discouraged if you missed out on Expedia’s Travel Week in early June. There are still plenty of deals and last-minute deals on the site to choose from—but be prepared to act fast, since they move pretty quickly. Right now, discounted properties include the COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach, the 1 Hotel West Hollywood, and the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. You’ll find even more last-minute deals in cities like New York City, Orlando, and Key West, Florida.

More than 850 Hyatt hotels—which include Andaz, Thompson, and Miraval properties—are offering between 10 and 25 percent off summer stays through September 30. All you have to do is book before July 31 and you’ll get in on the savings. This year’s Hot List award-winning Thompson Dallas is offering 10 percent off, while one of the best hotels in Chicago, the Chicago Athletic Association, is offering 15 percent off summer bookings. There isn’t a master list of which hotels are joining the sale, so poke around some of your favorite resorts’ offer pages and look for the “plan your adventure” deal.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

A nice benefit of this extended WFH life is more flexibility when it comes to taking vacations—or checking into the hotel where you can plan to set up shop. Select Wyndham Grand hotels are rewarding that flexibility with 25 percent off of stays that begin Sunday through Thursday. To take advantage of the offer, book by July 1, 2021, for a stay any time this year.

Kimpton Hotels

All year long, Kimpton is offering discounts of 15 to 25 percent as part of a stay longer and save campaign. Sixty Kimpton properties are included in the deal, which applies to bookings made through December 31, 2021, for three or more nights. With properties everywhere from Nashville and Miami to Santa Barbara and Chicago in the mix, it’s a nice staycation option no matter your home base.

Priceline’s exclusive Hotel Express deals are an ongoing way to save up to 60 percent off, with low rates in dozens of cities across the country. However, it’s a dealer’s choice: In exchange for the low rates, Priceline only reveals the hotel name after you book. Adventurous travelers can take comfort in knowing all participating properties have been vetted and must have a minimum guest rating score, inclusive of cleanliness rating, to qualify. There is also a “New Cleaning Protocol” filter which can be used to limit an Express Deal search to only include properties who have shared an updated COVID-19 cleaning protocol with Priceline.

Iceland Air

Fully vaccinated travelers from the U.S. and Canada are welcome to visit Iceland, and Iceland Air is ready to bring them back. The airline just announced a new Iceland Volcano & Blue Lagoon Getaway package, with rates starting at $699. That includes round-trip economy flights, a minimum three-night hotel stay, and tours to the Fagradalsfjall volcano and Blue Lagoon. Southwest Airlines

Through June 17, all fall Southwest flight bookings (for travel from September 15 through November 3) are 50 percent off with the code “SAVE50.” Routes to Mexico are less than $400 and round-trip flights to Hawaii are just $300 from some West Coast destinations. If you’ve missed out on this mega-sale, know that it’s all part of Southwest’s 50th anniversary sale, and we’re expecting ultra-low flight sales to pop up throughout the rest of the year.

Intrepid Travel

If you’re already tired of the summer heat, Intrepid has you covered in the form of a polar cruise itinerary sale. Between June 1 and July 31, travelers can save 25 percent when booking 2021 and 2022 voyages to Antarctica. Eleven-day journeys start at less than $6,000 with the discount, and include Zodiac excursions, wildlife photography courses, and penguin habitat viewings. Or, splurge on the 21-day voyage, which sails around the Antarctic Peninsula, Falkland Islands, and southern Argentina. Itineraries start back up in November, so you’ll have plenty of time to stock up on cold-weather gear.

Hurtigruten has a tempting offer for anyone looking to book ahead: Through the end of June, sailings to Alaska, Antarctica, and Norway are up to 10 percent off, and come with flight credits worth up to $2,500. Itineraries begin in October, so you can likely avoid having to reschedule, and stretch well into 2022. For those looking to stay relatively local, there are a few U.S.- and Canada-only itineraries included in the sale, too; one stretches up the West Coast from San Diego to Vancouver, another starts in Halifax and heads to Boston.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises

Deals are in story for cruisers who want to plan ahead. Uniworld is offering savings of up to 10 percent off bookings for select 2022 itineraries ranging from a trip down the Nile to a sailing that hits the best of Europe’s Christmas markets. The deal is valid until June 30—so while you’ll have plenty of time before your cruise leaves port, you only have a few weeks to settle on a booking.

Booking early pays off on Amtrak: Travelers who book more than 14 days in advance can save up to 30 percent off coach fares across Amtrak’s route map. Think $30 one-way fares between New Orleans and Atlanta and $40 fares on the ultra-scenic Denver to Grand Junction, Colorado route. Plus, if you’re a high school or college student aged 17 to 24, you can save up to an additional 25 percent on travel through December 31, 2021.
