Here’s a look at the top five college basketball players who will play at Ball Arena in Denver during the rounds of 64 and 32 of the NCAA Tournament.
Drew Timme, F, Sr., 6-foot-10, Gonzaga
The most accomplished player in the Denver field, Timme averaged 20.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season. A master of footwork in the paint, Timme can put the Zags on his back and carry them deep in the tournament.
Mike Miles, G, Jr., 6-2, TCU
Miles was the preseason Big 12 player of the year but a knee injury knocked him out of five games at midseason. When he’s right, he pushes the pace for the up-tempo Frogs. He averaged 17.3 points and shot 49.7% from the field.
Keyonte George, G, Fr., 6-4, Baylor
Likely a one-and-done player, George lived up to his billing as one of the top high school players in America a year ago. Silky smooth, the 19-year-old averaged 15.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in Baylor’s three-guard attack.
Ryan Kalkbrenner, C, Jr., 7-1, Creighton
The big guy shot 71.4% from the floor, averaging 15.4 points and 6.1 rebounds for a balanced attack. Creighton is an outstanding offensive team and operates best when getting the ball inside.
Rayshon Harrison, G, Soph., 6-4, Grand Canyon
A proven stat stuffer, Harrison leads his team in scoring (17.7) and assists (3.6). He’ll be counted on to come up big if Grand Canyon is to pull off an upset of Gonzaga.
