Ben Habib looked at the Brexit battle over the past four years and encouraged Rejoiners to forget the divisions between leave and remain so Britain can finally move forward. He added “project fear” had been proven wrong many times and that people should detach themselves from the positions they had been “intellectually wed” to. Mr Habib also called for a review of the Northern Ireland Protocol and said he would ultimately like to see it gone.

Speaking to Julia Hartley-Brewer on her talkRADIO show, Mr Habib said: “Well, from January 1 we had all the remain, or ex-remain establishment, pumping out stories and trying to rubbish Brexit but at every turn, they’ve been found out.

“And we know this from 2016, all those project fear stories every single one debunked every step of the way.

“It is a function of the deep divisions that were sown over the four-year battle over whether or not we Brexit and how we Brexit.

“And people are so intellectually and emotionally wed to their positions that they’re not prepared to waiver.

“And it’s a great shame because ultimately, and Remainers don’t like hearing this, we are British citizens and what is good for the United Kingdom has to be good for us.

“In their own self-interest, they need to get behind the British project not the European Union one and champion our successes.”

According to the latest Government figures, over 12 million people have received their first vaccine dose in the UK.

The Government is aiming to vaccinate 15 million people by next week as the believe the target could be hit earlier.

Meanwhile, the EU has been struggling to get its vaccination programme off the ground as the bloc has been plagued with supply and logistical issues.

Brussels sought to implement an export ban on vaccines created in the continent over fears pharmaceutical companies would not meet their contractual obligations.

This led to the triggering of Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol to put a hard border across Northern Ireland.

This was so goods could be checked to prevent vaccines entering the UK via a back door.

The EU has also banned the sale of British shellfish in the continent despite a belief the original ban was only temporary.

The bloc only accepts shellfish from Class A waters from outside the EU, which the majority of British waters are not.

It means many fisheries can not sell their shellfish to Europe without purifying the fish first.

Many do not have space or money to install the equipment which also makes the shelf life of the fish much shorter.
